Dear Residents,
On Wednesday, April 15, 2020, Governor Cuomo issued an Executive Order requiring “any individual over the age of two and medically able to tolerate a face-covering shall be required to cover their nose and mouth with a mask or cloth face-covering when in a public place and unable to maintain, or when not maintaining, social distance.” The face covering should cover the nose and mouth by utilizing a cloth, a homemade, or other face covering, such as a scarf or bandana. Based on clarifications issued, the requirement applies to anyone in the common areas of the building.1
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has stated that the coronavirus is being spread by people exhibiting symptoms, as well as those who are asymptomatic. Therefore, local jurisdictions are implementing these face covering regulations to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by reducing the risk of exposure in an effort to protect the health, safety, and welfare of those who live, work, and visit cities across North America.
We trust everyone will continue to do their best to try to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 by continuing social distancing of six feet and following the other CDC recommendations previously provided. We also strongly encourage everyone to follow the Executive Order to wear a face-covering while in the common areas of the building. We do not know how long the face-covering requirement will be in place.
Thank you.
