The full extent of the dam\u00adage to the build\u00ading is still under eval\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion.<\/p>\n<p>Fire mar\u00adshals believe that the fire began with an over\u00adheat\u00ading toast\u00ader and quick\u00adly over\u00adtook the build\u00ading by trav\u00adel\u00ading through a dumb\u00adwait\u00ader shaft and up under the build\u00ading\u2019s roof. What began as a small kitchen acci\u00addent quick\u00adly turned into a cat\u00ada\u00adstro\u00adphe.<\/p>\n<p>This tragedy serves as a reminder to all of us about fire safety\u2013the safe oper\u00ada\u00adtion of elec\u00adtri\u00adcal appli\u00adances and equip\u00adment, nev\u00ader leav\u00ading open flames unat\u00adtend\u00aded, keep\u00ading well-main\u00ad\u00adtained fire extin\u00adguish\u00aders in our apart\u00adments, and assur\u00ading that smoke and car\u00adbon monox\u00adide detec\u00adtors are work\u00ading through\u00adout the build\u00ading. It is also imper\u00ada\u00adtive that fire escapes remain com\u00adplete\u00adly unim\u00adped\u00aded, so noth\u00ading of any sort should ever be stored on fire escapes. We are all depen\u00addent upon one anoth\u00ader for dili\u00adgence in pre\u00advent\u00ading a fire in our build\u00ading and in edu\u00adcat\u00ading our\u00adselves about what to do should a fire break out.
