Elec\u00adtron\u00adics and oth\u00ader spe\u00adcial waste (see list below) can be dis\u00adposed off safe\u00adly at spe\u00adcial waste drop-off sites.<\/p>\n<h5>Special Waste Drop-Off Sites<\/h5>\n<p>The fol\u00adlow\u00ading items are accept\u00aded at DSNY spe\u00adcial waste drop-off sites:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bat\u00adter\u00adies, includ\u00ading auto\u00admo\u00adtive, recharge\u00adable (such as small sealed lead acid bat\u00adter\u00adies, Li-Ion, Ni-MH, Ni-ZN, Ni-Cd) and sin\u00adgle-use (such as alka\u00adline and lithi\u00adum pri\u00adma\u00adry). Enter on Far\u00adragut Street, off Food Cen\u00adter Dri\u00adve.<\/li>\n<li><b>Brook\u00adlyn:<\/b> Ben\u00adson\u00adhurst at 25th Avenue&nbsp;and Gravesend Bay, next to DSNY Brook\u00adlyn Dis\u00adtrict 11&nbsp;garage and the Adven\u00adtur\u00aders Amuse\u00adment Park, for\u00admer\u00adly&nbsp;known as Nel\u00adlie Bly Amuse\u00adment Park.<\/li>\n<li><b>Man\u00adhat\u00adtan:<\/b> 74 Pike Slip between Cher\u00adry Street and South Street under the Man\u00adhat\u00adtan Bridge<\/li>\n<li><b>Queens:<\/b> Col\u00adlege Point at 30th Avenue,&nbsp;between 120th and 122nd Streets, at the north\u00adwest&nbsp;cor\u00adner of the DSNY Queens Dis\u00adtrict 7 garage.<\/li>\n<li><b>Stat\u00aden Island:<\/b> Locat\u00aded at the foot of Mul\u00addoon Avenue, off the Mul\u00addoon Avenue exit of the south\u00adbound&nbsp;West Shore Express\u00adway (440), adja\u00adcent to the DSNY&nbsp;Stat\u00aden Island Dis\u00adtrict 3 garage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The sites are open from 10 am to 5 pm every Sat\u00adur\u00adday and the last Fri\u00adday of the month. Sites are closed on legal hol\u00adi\u00addays, and may be closed dur\u00ading severe weath\u00ader.<\/p>\n<h5>Rules &amp; Procedures<\/h5>\n<p>DSNY drop-off sites are only for non-com\u00admer\u00adcial mate\u00adri\u00adals from NYC res\u00adi\u00addents.&nbsp;When you arrive at the drop-off site, you\u2019ll be required to show a valid NYS driver\u2019s license and vehi\u00adcle reg\u00adis\u00adtra\u00adtion. If you aren\u2019t arriv\u00ading by car, you can pro\u00advide a pic\u00adture ID and proof of res\u00adi\u00adden\u00adcy, such as a phone or util\u00adi\u00adty bill.<\/p>\n<p>The drop-off loca\u00adtion may not be imme\u00addi\u00adate\u00adly vis\u00adi\u00adble. If you have trou\u00adble find\u00ading the loca\u00adtion, ask a DSNY garage fore\u00adman or super\u00advi\u00adsor at the site. DSNY offi\u00adcials will be there to instruct you, but the sites are do-it-your\u00adself style. Wear\u00ading casu\u00adal clothes and work gloves is strong\u00adly rec\u00adom\u00admend\u00aded.<\/p>\n<h6>Special Instructions for Batteries:<\/h6>\n<p>To pre\u00advent the risk of fire, indi\u00advid\u00adu\u00adal\u00adly bag each non-alka\u00adline bat\u00adtery or use CLEAR tape to cov\u00ader the ter\u00admi\u00adnals. Do not use opaque tape and do not bag or tape alka\u00adline bat\u00adter\u00adies.<\/p>\n<p>At the drop-off site, place each bat\u00adtery into its des\u00adig\u00adnat\u00aded col\u00adlec\u00adtion con\u00adtain\u00ader: alka\u00adline, small sealed lead acid, auto, and \u201coth\u00ader\u201d.<\/p>\n<h5>Other Disposal Options<\/h5>\n<p>Retail\u00aders and man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adtur\u00aders accept cer\u00adtain items in take-back pro\u00adgrams, includ\u00ading elec\u00adtron\u00adics.
